Old Leigh Regatta
Old Leigh Regatta is back in the Old Town on the weekend of 7-8 September, and we need your help to make it a fantastic weekend.
For those that haven’t been to Leigh Regatta before, it’s a weekend long family street festival in the Old Town, organised by the Old Leigh Sea Scout Groups (3rdCB and 4th/6th Leigh). The road is closed and filled with stalls, games, entertainment, live music, sailing and competitions between the Sea Scout Groups. Traditionally it has been one of our biggest fundraising events of the year and a huge amount of fun. For various reasons it hasn’t run for a few years so we’re very excited to have it back on the programme.
The Regatta will be open 11-7 both days. We need help throughout the weekend between 9am and 6pm from Scouts, Explorers and parents to run stalls, games, help set up, and take part in the competitions on and off the water. Cubs and Beavers are really welcome to come and help out as well with their parents, and take part in the many activities on offer. Adults, if you or family/friends are able to help as a steward during the weekend that will also be really helpful – Let us know online if you can help as a steward.
Summer Camp
We definitely had one of the best weeks of summer this year for camp, with the sun shining on us throughout. The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts camped together at Marlesford in Suffolk, living under canvas.
The Sea Scouts camped and cooked over open fires in their patrols, working together as teams, celebrating 3rdCB’s oven version of the Olympic Games, and visiting the beach to cool down in the sea. The “Cubeavers” spent their time playing games, learning new skills and making friends.
The Explorers joined 10,000 other Scouts from around the world at Essex International Jamboree, a different experience to our normal summer camps and jam packed with activities such as climbing, bumper cars, neon raves and the spectacular opening and closing ceremonies.
Lost Property
There is some lost property from camp in The Den, please take a look through for any missing items. It will be available until the start of October when it will be disposed of.
