3rd Chalkwell Bay is a recognised provider of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and organises training, activities and expeditions across all levels of the scheme.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is an awards programme which gives young people the chance to make friends, have fun and build confidence in an empowering, exciting and non-competitive learning environment. It’s delivered by a number of licensed providers across the UK: Scouts being one of the biggest.
There are three progressive DofE levels which, when successfully completed, lead to a Bronze, Silver or Gold award. Each participant creates their own DofE programme to challenge them self, include volunteering, physical and skill activities, also going on an expedition and, for the Gold Level only, taking part in a residential activity.
These awards are challenging: you will have to show commitment to attend expedition training sessions, as well as a practice expedition and the assessed expedition (these are held on weekends or in the school holidays).
The DofE also awards link in to the Scouting programme as the Platinum and Diamond Chief Scout’s Awards, and Queen’s Scout Award respectively.
