Winter may mean cold weather and dark nights, but that’s not stopped our Scouting adventures. We’ve been celebrating Chinese New Year, making pancakes, trying out Yoga and Martial Arts and learning how to eat healthily, which much more to come this term. We’ve also celebrated the many achievements of youth members over the past year at our annual presentation evening, along with recognising the efforts of the huge team of volunteers that make Scouting happen in Old Leigh on a weekly basis.

Presentation Evening

Congratulations to all who received prizes and awards at our Presentation Evening on Saturday. It was great to celebrate so many achievements of our amazing young people and adults over the past year, including hearing from Explorers Henry and Billy about their international Scouting adventures over the summer, and lovely to be joined by so many parents and supporters.

We were very well hosted Leigh Road Baptist Church, and our local MP Anna Firth joined us as guest of honour.

Photos from the evening are available on the Members Facebook Group.Facebook seems to have a glitch with photo albums at the moment and is hiding most of the pictures in them, so the Presentation Evening photos are also on our Flickr site at https://www.flickr.com/photos/3rdcb/albums/72177720314792933/

Snow Sports Badges

Are you heading to the snow this half term? Did you know there’s a Snow Sports Badge you can do? There are 4 different stages you can achieve for all abilities, whether its your first time on the slopes or you can breeze a black run. Full details of what you need to do are at www.scouts.org.uk/staged-badges/snowsports/. Just print out the requirements, get your ski instructor to sign the level you’re at, and give the sheet to your leaders.

Akela’s Retirement Gift

Thank you for all the kind messages and donations sent in for Tricia’s retirement as Cub Leader, signifying just how many children and adults she’s helped on their Scouting journey.

The number of donations blew us away, and we were able to surprise her on Saturday night with a plane ticket to see her sister in Australia! We think it’s the first time she’s been lost for words. The Cub Pack is in great hands with new Akela Chantal, and Tricia’s definitely not leaving the 3rdCB family any time soon.
