What a week in the Peaks!
The Sea Scouts just wrapped up an unforgettable Easter adventure in Castleton, in the Derbyshire Peak District. For the first week of the Easter holidays, 37 Scouts (plus 2 Young Leaders, and 11 adults) embraced the sunshine and tackled a packed programme of outdoor challenges.
The week long programme included:
Hiking on sunny trails and conquering the many hills and peaks, with blue skies, big smiles, and not too much mud. 6 Solebay Scouts even completed their Expedition Challenge, hiking on their own for 2 days, cooking dinner on Trangias, and camping out in tents for the night.
Completing a huge High Ropes course, where they demonstrated courage, teamwork, and a whole lot of adrenaline with the leap of faith.
Visiting the beautiful village of Castleton in the evenings after walks, and learning about our home-from-home with a fun challenge quiz.
Cycling around Derwent Water, soaking in the views, tackling those hills like pros, and stopping for a cool-off in the stream.
Swimming in Bakewell, then out exploring the town to spent that last bit of pocket money.
This trip was all about building confidence, resilience, and friendships – true Scouting and SkillsForLife in action.
Huge thanks to our dedicated leaders and volunteers who made this experience possible. We’re proud of every Scout who stepped up, supported each other, and made memories to last a lifetime.
Here’s a little taste of what we got up to. The full photo album for the week is on our Members Facebook Group, or on Google Photos at https://photos.app.goo.gl/1DKr1Uepe1UGqfR47.
