Power Cox’n Course

RYA Powerboat Level 1 / Power Cox’n Course for older Scouts, to teach additional skills on the water beyond sailing.
This provides a practical introduction to boat handling and safety in powerboats. It covers boating techniques for everyday boat handling and the use of safety equipment. It is linked to the Scouts’ Power Cox’n badge.
Duration: 1 day
Minimum age: 12
Cost: £20 (to cover the RYA logbook, certificate and RIB boat fuel)
Max on course: 6
What to Bring: You will need to bring suitable clothing to go afloat in. It’s still March and cold out, so jumpers and waterproofs, plus boat shoes or trainers that can get wet, a complete change of clothes, and a towel! We will provide a buoyancy aid.
You will also need a packed lunch or money for chips! It is worth having a few snacks with you in-case we have a late lunch.
All courses are weather dependant, and therefore may be cancelled or rescheduled at short notice. If we do have to cancel a course it will be published on the group Facebook page, and you will be advised by e-mail, so please check this prior to travelling to The Den if the weather is not looking good.
