SUMMARY:Harvest Church Parade
DESCRIPTION:Parade Service to New Road Fishermen’s Chapel in Old Leigh\, celebrating and giving thanks for the Harvest. \n\n\n\nMeet at The Den at 10:30 in full uniform. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo celebrate the harvest\, for October’s Church Parade we’ll be collecting donations of tinned\, dried and long-life food\, snacks and toiletries\, which will be donated through our friends at HARP Southend to our city’s less fortunate residents. If you can\, please bring a donation of one of the items above\, either on the day or beforehand on your usual meeting night\, which will be donated to HARP to support their fantastic work. \n\n\n\nWe parade through the Old Town with colours flying to the chapel\, returning to The Den on completion. We are normally finished by 12:15. Family and friends are welcome to join us in the chapel for the service. All sections are welcome to attend\, and it counts towards several challenge & activity badges.

DESCRIPTION:We all have a responsibility to keep The Den clean & tidy\, and to ensure that the boats are bailed regularly\, particularly during the winter months. SUMMARY:Scout Summer Camp
DESCRIPTION:One of the highlights of the Scouting calendar – our summer camp this year will be held from Saturday 22nd July to Saturday 29th July. We will be camping with Solebay Troop at Haughley Park in Suffolk. \n\n\n\nThe focus of the camp is back to basics: the Scouts camp in their patrols in tents for the week\, cooking for themselves over open fires. There’s a packed programme of training\, activities\, games and competitions throughout the week\, as well as a day or two off site to the beach or local town\, and the chance to relax around the camp fire in the evenings. \n\n\n\nCost \n\n\n\nThe cost of the week is £180\, which covers everything including food\, coach travel\, site hire\, activities etc\, although a small amount of pocket money is recommended for trips into town or the tuck shop. \n\n\n\nHow to book \n\n\n\nBook your child’s place at attend summer camp by responding to the email\, or by logging into the OSM Parent Portal. You will then have the option to pay the camp fees. It’s as simple as that. Payment is through OSM in the same way that membership fees are paid. \n\n\n\nTo help parents budget\, payments are in three instalments due at the beginning of May\, June and July. All payments are required\, and the first is a non-refundable deposit. \n\n\n\nAdvance Party \n\n\n\nThe Advance Party of leaders and Patrol Leaders will leave on Friday 21st July to get the majority of the tents and other large equipment pitched and set up before the rest of the Group arrive on the Saturday.

There’s a packed programme of activities and games throughout the week\, including a cooking over fires\, and a big camp fire for the whole Group on the final night. \n\n\n\nCost \n\n\n\nThe cost of the week will be £150 which covers everything\, including food\, coach travel\, site hire\, activities etc. \n\n\n\nHow to book \n\n\n\nBooking is via the OSM Parent Portal\, in the same way that membership fees are paid. To help parents budget\, this year we’re asking for payments in three instalments of £50 each at the beginning of May\, June and July\, the first of which is a non-refundable deposit.  \n\n\n\nPlaces are limited to 28 Cubs.

SUMMARY:Beaver Summer Camp
DESCRIPTION:One of the highlights of the Scouting calendar – our Beaver summer camp this year will be held from Saturday 22nd July to Monday 24th July. We will be camping with the Cubs at an old 3rdCB favourite in Haughley Park\, Suffolk. The Sea Scout Troops will also be on the same site\, but camping separately a bit further away from us. \n\n\n\nThe focus of the camp is back to basics: the Beavers camp together in tents\, eating in a mess tent with the Cubs. There’s a packed programme of training\, activities\, games and adventures over the long weekend\, and even a camp fire for them to join in with and sing around. \n\n\n\nTravel \n\n\n\nThe Beavers will travel to the site by coach with the Cubs and Scouts on the Saturday morning. To keep costs down there will be no coach bringing the Beavers back on Monday\, and we ask parents to collect from the site on Monday evening (details will be sent out nearer the time). \n\n\n\nCost \n\n\n\nThe cost of the camp is £60 which covers everything\, including food\, travel there\, site hire and activities. To make it easier for parents with several children to budget\, this year we’ve split payments into three\, each a month apart. All three payments are required; the first of which is a non-refundable deposit. \n\n\n\nHow to book \n\n\n\nBook your child’s place at summer camp by logging into OSM with the link above\, and clicking “yes they will attend”\, you will then have the option to pay the deposit and balance. It’s as simple as that. \n\n\n\nPlease confirm and pay by Friday 23th June; payments are processed through OSM in the same way that membership fees are paid.

We’ll march to Strand Wharf where we will gather to renew our promise together as a group\, then march back to The Den to finish. \n\n\n\nAll Beavers\, Cubs\, Scouts & Explorers are expected to attend\, and parents & friends are very welcome to watch the parade and service.  \n\n\n\nAll are welcome to join us at The Den afterwards for tea & cake.

On the third Sunday of each month the Scouts and Explorers take it in turns (by Patrol / Division) to be the Sunday Duty Patrol and keep our HQ and equipment running properly. Please make a note of the day your patrol is on duty – it is only once a year and makes a big difference in keeping our HQ running well. \n\n\n\nSunday Duty Patrol starts at 10:30 and lasts for about 1½ hours.  Where there is a Church Parade on the same day\, duty patrol will start on completion. \n\n\n\nWear old clothes that you can clean in.
