SUMMARY:Den Work Party
DESCRIPTION:Give our HQ a spring clean and tidy up ready for the year ahead. The day will involve cleaning\, painting\, putting blinds up as well as a number of other tasks.   \n\n\n\nWe are asking parents and friends to help where possible with the aim to get a lot done in one day. Leaders will be there too but the more help we can get\, the more we can get done.   \n\n\n\nThe general list of tasks are below and if you are available to help with any certain area\, please can you email Jon Whiteley who is coordinating the day so we can get various teams lined up – jwhiteley@3rdcb.org.uk \n\n\n\n\nPainting of walls – touch up the many scuff marks throughout the hall as well as in the galley and wardroom \n\n\n\nKitchen sort out – general clean and sort of all cupboards  \n\n\n\nPictures on walls in hall and wardroom \n\n\n\nNew blinds – to be put up in each window in the hall and wardroom  \n\n\n\nNew flag holder – wooden device needed to hold section flags \n\n\n\nToilets/Changing rooms – need general clean  \n\n\n\nJetty and Yard – general clean and sort of areas \n\n\n\n\nWe are looking to start around 10am and finish late afternoon. We will provide lunch and refreshments for all and are hoping this will be a fun day whilst doing some jobs.   \n\n\n\nIf you can help\, even just for an hour or two\, please email Jon with your availability. SUMMARY:Scouts Easter Activity Weekend
DESCRIPTION:Easter Activities Weekend over the Easter Bank Holiday in place of the cancelled Derbyshire trip. We will have a day on the water\, a day hike as well as fun activities and a night hike\, with a sleepover at The Den on Sunday night. The cost of the 4 days will be £65 and this will cover the minibus hire\, activities as well as various meals/take aways. \n\n\n\nThis is initially open to those booked to go to Derbyshire\, if we have extra space at the end we’ll open up to other Scouts. \n\n\n\nBelow is a breakdown of what we are planning along with timings. Exact details may vary based on weather and numbers.   \n\n\n\n\nFriday 29th March (Good Friday). Boat scavenger hunt\, orienteering and sailing.Meet at the Den at 1100. Finish at 1700. Bring: a packed lunch.Wear: clothes for getting messy in as well as going afloat. Trainers will be needed as well.\n\n\n\nSaturday 30th March. Day hike in North EssexMeet at the Den at 1000. Finish at 1700.Bring: a small backpack with the following in: Waterproof jacket & trousers\, hat\, gloves and scarf; water bottle (with water in); packed lunch and snacks.Wear: hiking clothes and hiking boots.\n\n\n\n\n\nSunday 31st March. Activities day at Screens Park Scout Campsite\, then bowling with a takeaway in the early evening\, before heading towards Bradwell for a night hike in the evening. Finally back to the Den for a sleepover. Meet at the Den at 1000. Sleepover at The Den overnight.Bring (in the morning): a sleeping bag\, roll mat\, pillow and change of clothes for the next day; pyjamas; wash kit; towel; trainers (for after the night hike).Bring: a small backpack with the following in: Waterproof jacket & trousers\, hat\, gloves and scarf; water bottle (with water in); packed lunch and snacks\, torch.Wear: hiking clothes and hiking boots.\n\n\n\nMonday 1st April. Full English and continental breakfast in The Den in the morning\, then teambuilding activities & games on the beach. Finish at The Den at 1200.\n\n\n\n\nOnce we know final numbers\, we will send around the kit list and further details in the next week or so.

SUMMARY:Derbyshire
DESCRIPTION:Our annual Easter Walking and Activity Week to Castleton in the Derbyshire Peak District will take place during the first week of the Easter holidays from Saturday 1 – 8 April\, open to all Scouts in Renown and Solebay Troops. \n\n\n\nWe have a varied programme including hill walking\, swimming and other activities such as cycling and low-level climbing\, as well as the opportunity to head into the local village and activities & games in the centre. We have exclusive use of the Rotary Centre in Castleton\, with several buildings including a purpose-build dormitory block with bunk bed accommodation in rooms of four and central heating. \n\n\n\nWalking groups are based on age and experience\, and are led by an experienced leader or instructor. For the older Scouts there will be the opportunity (weather permitting) to complete a two-day expedition challenge\, as part of the Chief Scout’s Award\, an experience that will leave some great memories. \n\n\n\nCost \n\n\n\nThe week costs £250\, which includes all transport\, activities\, accommodation\, and food and represents excellent value for money for a full week away. Numbers are limited to 36 Sea Scouts and will be allocated on a first come\, first served basis. \n\n\n\nA £50 deposit is required on booking\, with the balance by 10 March. \n\n\n\nHow to book \n\n\n\nPlease book at https://bookwhen.com/3rdcb-activities/e/ev-shk1-20230401000000 and pay the deposit to secure your child’s place. Invoices for the balance payment (if not paid when booking) will be sent out nearer the time through the Parent Portal. \n\n\n\nEquipment \n\n\n\nWalking boots (not DM’s) and decent waterproofs are essential for this trip\, and the Group has a number of good quality waterproofs and rucksacks that can be hired. There is a small hire charge of £5 per item to cover wear & tear and to help cover the cost of cleaning and replacing them. These borrowed items will be collected at the end of the week before we return home. \n\n\n\nPre-Trip Meeting \n\n\n\nWe hold a pre-trip meeting for parents and those going on the trip at The Den on Tuesday 14th March at 7.30pm\, All those attending the trip should attend. Group equipment will be available to hire on this evening.
