DESCRIPTION:6 hour RYA First Aid refresher course\, for those that have previously completed a RYA First Aid Course at The Den and require a refresher on practices and techniques. This course is run over two evenings on Tue 14 & 21 Feb\, you must qttend both sessions to complete the course. Book your place here. \n\n\n\nThis is a ‘marine focused’ first aid course\, but we will adapt to try and make it more suitable for our young peoples age ranges and the many opportunities which we provide to these young people. \n\n\n\nPriority will be given to those who require training for permit and leadership roles\, and further dates will be added in due course if required. This includes a set mixed starter\, followed by an unlimited buffet. DESCRIPTION:We all have a responsibility to keep The Den clean & tidy\, and to ensure that the boats are bailed regularly\, particularly during the winter months. On the third Sunday of each month the Scouts and Explorers take it in turns (by Patrol / Division) to be the Sunday Duty Patrol and keep our HQ and equipment running properly. Please make a note of the day your patrol is on duty – it is only once a year and makes a big difference in keeping our HQ running well. \n\n\n\nSunday Duty Patrol starts at 10:30 and lasts for about 1½ hours.  Where there is a Church Parade on the same day\, duty patrol will start on completion. \n\n\n\nWear old clothes that you can clean in. DESCRIPTION:Our annual Easter Walking and Activity Week to Castleton in the Derbyshire Peak District will take place during the first week of the Easter holidays from Saturday 1 – 8 April\, open to all Scouts in Renown and Solebay Troops. \n\n\n\nWe have a varied programme including hill walking\, swimming and other activities such as cycling and low-level climbing\, as well as the opportunity to head into the local village and activities & games in the centre. We have exclusive use of the Rotary Centre in Castleton\, with several buildings including a purpose-build dormitory block with bunk bed accommodation in rooms of four and central heating. \n\n\n\nWalking groups are based on age and experience\, and are led by an experienced leader or instructor. For the older Scouts there will be the opportunity (weather permitting) to complete a two-day expedition challenge\, as part of the Chief Scout’s Award\, an experience that will leave some great memories. \n\n\n\nCost \n\n\n\nThe week costs £250\, which includes all transport\, activities\, accommodation\, and food and represents excellent value for money for a full week away. Numbers are limited to 36 Sea Scouts and will be allocated on a first come\, first served basis. \n\n\n\nA £50 deposit is required on booking\, with the balance by 10 March. \n\n\n\nHow to book \n\n\n\nPlease book at https://bookwhen.com/3rdcb-activities/e/ev-shk1-20230401000000 and pay the deposit to secure your child’s place. Invoices for the balance payment (if not paid when booking) will be sent out nearer the time through the Parent Portal. \n\n\n\nEquipment \n\n\n\nWalking boots (not DM’s) and decent waterproofs are essential for this trip\, and the Group has a number of good quality waterproofs and rucksacks that can be hired. There is a small hire charge of £5 per item to cover wear & tear and to help cover the cost of cleaning and replacing them. These borrowed items will be collected at the end of the week before we return home. \n\n\n\nPre-Trip Meeting \n\n\n\nWe hold a pre-trip meeting for parents and those going on the trip at The Den on Tuesday 14th March at 7.30pm\, All those attending the trip should attend. Group equipment will be available to hire on this evening.

DESCRIPTION:We all have a responsibility to keep The Den clean & tidy\, and to ensure that the boats are bailed regularly\, particularly during the winter months. On the third Sunday of each month the Scouts and Explorers take it in turns (by Patrol / Division) to be the Sunday Duty Patrol and keep our HQ and equipment running properly. Please make a note of the day your patrol is on duty – it is only once a year and makes a big difference in keeping our HQ running well. \n\n\n\nSunday Duty Patrol starts at 10:30 and lasts for about 1½ hours.  Where there is a Church Parade on the same day\, duty patrol will start on completion. \n\n\n\nWear old clothes that you can clean in. DESCRIPTION:One of the hottest social events of the summer: the 3rdCB Band Night.  \n\n\n\nCelebrate the start of summer in Old Leigh\, and watch the sun go down to some great entertainment\, including the fabulous Big Yellow Suitcase live on stage. \n\n\n\nOn site bar available including great cocktails and soft drinks\, or bring your own drinks & snacks for the evening. \n\n\n\nAll proceeds go towards supporting Scouting and activities for young people at 3rd Chalkwell Bay. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChildren and young people are welcome and encouraged to attend\, but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Adults are very welcome to bring their own drinks and snacks\, but please remember that under 18s are not permitted to consume alcohol on Scout premises. The Den is a no smoking site.
