SUMMARY:Harvest Church Parade
DESCRIPTION:Parade Service to New Road Fishermen’s Chapel in Old Leigh\, celebrating and giving thanks for the Harvest. \n\n\n\nMeet at The Den at 10:30 in full uniform. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo celebrate the harvest\, for October’s Church Parade we’ll be collecting donations of tinned\, dried and long-life food\, snacks and toiletries\, which will be donated through our friends at HARP Southend to our city’s less fortunate residents. If you can\, please bring a donation of one of the items above\, either on the day or beforehand on your usual meeting night\, which will be donated to HARP to support their fantastic work. \n\n\n\nWe parade through the Old Town with colours flying to the chapel\, returning to The Den on completion. We are normally finished by 12:15. Family and friends are welcome to join us in the chapel for the service. All sections are welcome to attend\, and it counts towards several challenge & activity badges.

SUMMARY:Remembrance Day Parade
DESCRIPTION:Each year the Group represents the Scouting and the youth of our city at Southend Cenotaph for the annual Service of Remembrance. All Sea Scouts and Explorers are expected to attend this service (one the only events a year we expect all members to attend)\, to pay our respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. \n\n\n\nWhen: Sun 9 Nov – 10:15 to 12:00.Where: Clifftown Parade\, by Prittlewell Square Gardens (SS1 1DW).Wear: Full uniform\, with poppy. Dark coat only if raining.Who: All Sea Scouts (Renown & Solebay Troops) and Explorer Sea Scouts. \n\n\n\nWe will meet on Clifftown Parade\, Southend\, by Prittlewell Square Gardens and the Queen Victoria Statue at 10:15. The service and parade will finish at approximately 12:00 back at the start. Parents and friends are very welcome to watch the parade and service. \n\n\n\nFull uniform is to be worn\, including a poppy that should be worn above the bow on the cap tally band (or on the left breast if you don’t yet have a cap). It is generally cold so please make sure that you have a good hot breakfast before coming and that you wear a few layers under your uniform jumper. Coats will only be worn if it rains. Those members with long hair should wear it fastened up in a bun with a hair net. If you are concerned about the weather\, bring a coat with you as they can be left in a leader’s car if not needed during the parade. If possible\, please make sure that your coat is black\, navy or a dark colour\, not bright colours. \n\n\n\nThis is an important day where we are in the public view and as the largest Sea Scout Groups in the county it is right that we make a good effort to attend and pay tribute to those who lost their lives for their Country during the two World Wars and other conflicts. If you cannot make it\, please let your section leader know. A good smart turnout would be appreciated both by me and the Veterans who attend the Service.

SUMMARY:RYA Powerboat L2 Course
DESCRIPTION:RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course for Explorers and adults to teach powerboat handling skills. \n\n\n\nProvides the skills and background knowledge needed by the competent powerboat driver and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence. It aims to teach boat handling and seamanship in powerboats. It focuses on low speed close quarters handling\, man overboard recovery\, an introduction to driving at planing speed\, and collision regulations.  \n\n\n\nIt is linked to the Explorers’ Water Activities badge. \n\n\n\nDuration: 2 days \n\n\n\nMinimum age: 16 \n\n\n\nMax on course: 3 \n\n\n\nWhat to Bring: You will need to bring suitable clothing to go afloat in. It’s November and cold out\, so jumpers and waterproofs\, plus boat shoes or trainers that can get wet\, a complete change of clothes\, and a towel! We will provide a buoyancy aid. \n\n\n\nYou will also need a packed lunch or money for chips! It is worth having a few snacks with you in-case we have a late lunch. \n\n\n\nAll courses are weather dependant\, and therefore may be cancelled or rescheduled at short notice. If we do have to cancel a course it will be published on the group Facebook page\, and you will be advised by e-mail\, so please check this prior to travelling to The Den if the weather is not looking good.

DESCRIPTION:We’re holding a Christmas Carol Service on Strand Wharf on Saturday at 4.00pm\, with our friends from New Road Fishermen’s Chapel. A more community-focussed event than our usual service in The Den with more space and everyone welcome\, to get you all in that festive mood. \n\n\n\nMembers\, parents\, friends\, and family are warmly encouraged to join us for festive carol singing and refreshments. Uniform is not required but please wear your 3rdCB scarf; just bring your voices and Christmas spirit! \n\n\n\nWe’ll again be collecting toys & gifts for Little Havens\, and the children in our city who need a little more hope at this time of year. We ask for donations of toys or children’s books\, these can be new\, as new\, unwanted gifts or something out-grown. Unwrapped please to help the Little Havens team give them out appropriately. These can either be brought on the day\, or to your normal section meeting during the week. \n\n\n\n⏰ When: 4.00pm on Sat 6 Dec📍 Where: Strand Wharf\, Old Leigh👕 Wear: Not uniform and wrap up warm as it’s outside. DESCRIPTION:We all have a responsibility to keep The Den clean & tidy\, and to ensure that the boats are bailed regularly\, particularly during the winter months. On the third Sunday of each month the Scouts and Explorers take it in turns (by Patrol / Division) to be the Sunday Duty Patrol and keep our HQ and equipment running properly. Please make a note of the day your patrol is on duty – it is only once a year and makes a big difference in keeping our HQ running well. \n\n\n\nSunday Duty Patrol starts at 10:30 and lasts for about 1½ hours.  Where there is a Church Parade on the same day\, duty patrol will start on completion. \n\n\n\nWear old clothes that you can clean in. SUMMARY:Derbyshire
DESCRIPTION:Our annual Easter Walking and Activity Week to Castleton in the Derbyshire Peak District will take place during the Easter holidays from 28 March – 4 April\, open to all Scouts in Renown and Solebay Troops. \n\n\n\nWe have a varied programme including hill walking\, swimming and other activities such as cycling and low-level climbing\, as well as the opportunity to head into the local village and activities & games in the centre. We have exclusive use of the Rotary Centre in Castleton\, with several buildings including a purpose-build dormitory block with bunk bed accommodation in rooms of four and central heating. \n\n\n\nWalking groups are based on age and experience\, and are led by an experienced leader or instructor. For the older Scouts there will be the opportunity to complete an independent two-day expedition challenge\, as part of the Chief Scout’s Award.

SUMMARY:District Activity Day & Renewal of Promise
DESCRIPTION:Activities Day with a huge variety of games and activities\, joining Scouts from across Southend West Scout District at Garon Park in Southend. During the day we’ll be renewing our Scouting promises to do our best for the year ahead. \n\n\n\nWhen: Saturday 25 April. 1000 – 1730. \n\n\n\nThere will be a lot of other scouts from all over Southend arriving on Saturday morning (including over 80 from 3rdCB alone) so timings have been staggered to ease the traffic. If you can share lifts please do. The drop off and pick up area is the overflow car park\, on your right as you enter Garon Park – it will be well signposted. \n\n\n\nArrival / correction times are being staggered to ease traffic – we’ll update on 3rdCB’s allocated times once we receive them\, but will be around 1000 and 1730. If you need to arrive late or leave early\, please talk to your child’s leader in advance. \n\n\n\nWe will have an area within the site where bags\, packed lunched etc can be left and to act as a base for 3rdCB. \n\n\n\nWhere: Garon Park\, Southend. (SS2 4FA. Maps Link). \n\n\n\nCost: Free! \n\n\n\nWear: 3rdCB polo and scarf. Activity trousers (or shorts if it’s warm) and trainers. Bring a jumper (3rdCB hoodie ideal if you have one) and waterproof jacket. Uniform not required (other than your scarf). \n\n\n\nWho: Sea Scouts (Renown and Solebay Troops) and Explorer Scouts. \n\n\n\nBring: \n\n\n\n\nPacked lunch (with your name on it)\, including some snacks for during the day. There is no other food available! If it’s not filled in you child won’t be able to do the bouldering wall.

DESCRIPTION:One of the hottest social events of the summer: the 3rdCB Band Night is back again\, ready to kick off the summer. \n\n\n\nWatch the sun go down with friends and family\, and dance the night away to some great entertainment\, including the awesome All Roads live on stage. \n\n\n\nWe’ll have the cool V-Dub Tavern to keep you hydrated with their selection of awesome cocktails\, Piperoni Pizza cooking up fresh pizzas\, or feel free to bring your own drinks & nibbles. \n\n\n\nAll proceeds go towards supporting Scouting and activities for young people at 3rd Chalkwell Bay. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChildren and young people are welcome and encouraged to attend\, but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Adults are very welcome to bring their own drinks and snacks\, but please remember that under 18s are not permitted to consume alcohol on Scout premises. The Den is a no smoking site.

SUMMARY:Renown PL & APL Training Camp
DESCRIPTION:In the run-up to summer camp\, this training weekend will give PLs and APLs the skills they need to look after their patrol at Summer Camp (even if you’re not going to summer camp\, it will be a fun weekend away with friends\, learning new skills). We’ll be refreshing on how to pitch the tents\, light fires and cook meals. As well as training we’ll be making use of some of the on-site activities\, and of course some games.
