SUMMARY:Group AGM
DESCRIPTION:The AGM is a legal requirement of our charitable status\, allowing members of the Group Council (that’s all parents\, adult members\, Sea Scout Patrol Leaders\, Explorer Scouts and Guzzlers) to receive a formal reports on our activities and accounts for the past year\, scrutinise the management team\, and approve nominations to the Group’s Trustee Board\, who oversee the Group’s governance and finances. Sea Scout Patrol Leaders and Explorer Scouts are de-facto members of the Group Scout Council\, and are encouraged to join in and have a say in how their Scout Group is run. \n\n\n\nThis year there are some changes to how the Trustee Board operates being implemented\, as part of a review and refresh across Scouting in the UK. \n\n\n\nThe AGM will only last half an hour and so hopefully will not erode into your evening too much. We hope you can attend this event and very much look forward to seeing you on the night. \n\n\n\nKey Documents\n\n\n\n\nAGM Agenda\n\n\n\nAnnual Report & Accounts 2024/25\n\n\n\nMinutes of 2024 AGM (for agreement)

SUMMARY:Old Leigh Regatta
DESCRIPTION:A weekend of family fun across Old Leigh hosted by 3rd Chalkwell Bay and 4th / 6th Leigh Sea Scouts\, and we need your help to make it a fantastic weekend. \n\n\n\nIn addition to the traditional sailing races\, welly-hoying\, tug-o-war and cockle eating competitions\, there will be scores of local community stalls\, games\, live music\, entertainment and activities for all the family. \n\n\n\nFor those that haven’t been to Leigh Regatta before\, it’s a weekend long family street festival in the Old Town\, organised by the Old Leigh Sea Scout Groups (3rdCB and 4th/6th Leigh). The road is closed and filled with stalls\, games\, entertainment\, live music\, sailing and competitions between the Sea Scout Groups. Traditionally it has been one of our biggest fundraising events of the year and a huge amount of fun. For various reasons it hasn’t run for a few years so we’re very excited to have it back on the programme. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe need help from the Scouts and Explorers over the weekend to run stalls\, games\, help set up\, and take part in the competitions on and off the water – specifically we need: \n\n\n\n\nHelp on both days from about 9am till 6pm (Regatta opens 11am\, finishes about 6pm)\n\n\n\nSetting up and taking down of stalls\n\n\n\nRunning the game stalls (Bat the Rat\, Hook a Duck\, Darts in Envelopes)\n\n\n\nRunning a balloon stall and helping on the information stand\n\n\n\nTaking part in competitions with 4th/6th Leigh – tug o war\, bowsprit pillow fights\, dinghy races and sailing races.\n\n\n\nAdults (parents\, family\, friends) to help as stewards for the event – let us know online if you can help as a steward.\n\n\n\n\nCubs and Beavers are really welcome to come and help out as well with their parents\, and take part in the many activities on offer. \n\n\n\n3rd CB receiving a portion of the profits from the weekend which helps with running costs for the Group. If all Scouts and Explorers can help\, even just for an hour or two\, it will be much appreciated. Help from parents\, siblings and family is also very welcome\, and it’s a great atmosphere. \n\n\n\nScouts don’t need to wear full uniform\, but please do wear a Group Polo shirt and scarf during the day. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPunch and Judy in The Den

SUMMARY:Group AGM
DESCRIPTION:Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 10 January at 8.30pm at The Den. This has been postponed from the planned date in September to enable the audit of the accounts to be completed satisfactorily. \n\n\n\nThe AGM is a legal requirement of our charitable status\, allowing members of the Group Scout Council (that’s all adult members of the Group\, parents of youth members\, Sea Scout Patrol Leaders\, Explorer Scouts\, Explorer Young Leaders\, and Guzzlers) to receive a formal reports on our activities and accounts for the past year\, scrutinise the management team\, and to elect or nominate the Group’s Trustee Board (formerly known as the Executive Committee) members\, who manage the Group and its finances\, for the forthcoming year. Explorer Scouts and Sea Scout Patrol Leaders are more than welcome (encouraged even) to join as well. \n\n\n\nThe Trustee Board is an important part of the Group and is formed of Section Leaders and elected members including the Chairman\, Treasurer and Parent Reps who don’t hold Scouting roles within the Group\, along with specialist advisers. The committee deals with the business side of 3rdCB (accounts\, legal\, etc). This allows the Leader Team to focus more on Scouting and running activities for our youth members. \n\n\n\nKey Documents\n\n\n\n\nAgenda for the 2023 AGM\n\n\n\nAnnual Report and Accounts for FY 2022/23\n\n\n\nDraft minutes of the 2022 AGM (for approval at the AGM)\n\n\n\nDraft Group Constitution (for ratification at the AGM)\n\n\n\n\nJoin Online\n\n\n\nWe’d prefer to see you in person\, but for those that can’t get to The Den there is the option to join the AGM by Zoom. SUMMARY:Boxing Day Sail
DESCRIPTION:Back in the days when there was a Lighthouse on Canvey Point\, 50+ years ago\, the Sea Scout Troop would sail over to the Lighthouse every Boxing Day with a hamper full of food and pass it to the Lighthouse Keeper stationed there as a Christmas present. \n\n\n\nDespite the fact that the Lighthouse was taken down in 1957\, the Troop continues this tradition of going sailing on Boxing Day. We’ve missed the last couple of years due to COVID and tides\, but are bringing it back this year and would love to see you there. \n\n\n\nSea Scouts\, Explorers\, adult members and families are invited to come out onto the water with us\, or just pop in for a drink and a mince pie on Boxing Day. We will be meeting at The Den at 1030 and will be finishing around 1330. As always this is weather dependant and if the weather is bad we will not be going out sailing. If you do come along make sure you have plenty of warm clothing as it will be cold and wear sensible footwear such as trainers or boating shoes. \n\n\n\nHW 1147 – 5.5m
