SUMMARY:Cub Summer Camp
DESCRIPTION:One of the highlights of the Cubs’ calendar – our summer camp this year will be held from Saturday 22nd July to Thursday 27th July. We will be camping with the Beavers at an old 3rdCB favourite of Haughly Park in Suffolk. The Scout Troops will be on the same site\, but a bit further away from us this year. \n\n\n\nThe focus of the camp is back to basics: the Cubs camp together in tents for the week\, eating together in a central mess tent. There’s a packed programme of activities and games throughout the week\, including a cooking over fires\, and a big camp fire for the whole Group on the final night. \n\n\n\nCost \n\n\n\nThe cost of the week will be £150 which covers everything\, including food\, coach travel\, site hire\, activities etc. \n\n\n\nHow to book \n\n\n\nBooking is via the OSM Parent Portal\, in the same way that membership fees are paid. To help parents budget\, this year we’re asking for payments in three instalments of £50 each at the beginning of May\, June and July\, the first of which is a non-refundable deposit.  \n\n\n\nPlaces are limited to 28 Cubs.

SUMMARY:Band Night
DESCRIPTION:One of the hottest social events of the summer: the 3rdCB Band Night.  \n\n\n\nCelebrate the start of summer in Old Leigh\, and watch the sun go down to some great entertainment\, including the fabulous Big Yellow Suitcase live on stage. \n\n\n\nOn site bar available including great cocktails and soft drinks\, or bring your own drinks & snacks for the evening. \n\n\n\nAll proceeds go towards supporting Scouting and activities for young people at 3rd Chalkwell Bay. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChildren and young people are welcome and encouraged to attend\, but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Adults are very welcome to bring their own drinks and snacks\, but please remember that under 18s are not permitted to consume alcohol on Scout premises. The Den is a no smoking site.

SUMMARY:Renewal of Promise
DESCRIPTION:Renewing our Scouting promises to Do Our Best for the upcoming year\, and commemorating those Scouters that are not longer with us. \n\n\n\nMeet by the cockle sheds\, under the flyover into Old Leigh in full uniform. We’ll march to Strand Wharf where we will gather to renew our promise together as a group\, then march back to The Den to finish. \n\n\n\nAll Beavers\, Cubs\, Scouts & Explorers are expected to attend\, and parents & friends are very welcome to watch the parade and service.  \n\n\n\nAll are welcome to join us at The Den afterwards for tea & cake.

SUMMARY:Church Parade
DESCRIPTION:Parade Service to New Road Fishermen’s Chapel in Old Leigh. \n\n\n\nMeet at The Den at 10:30 in full uniform. \n\n\n\nWe parade through the Old Town with colours flying to the chapel\, returning to The Den on completion. We are normally finished by 12:15. Family and friends are welcome to join us in the chapel for the service. All sections are welcome to attend\, and it counts towards several challenge & activity badges.

SUMMARY:Jamboree Curry Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:We’re holding a fundraising dinner at The Tandoori Parlour in Benfleet\, raising funds to support the Scouts going to the World Scout Jamboree In Korea\, and International Expedition to North America this summer. \n\n\n\nThe price is £15 for adults and children 12 & over\, or £12 for children under 12\, open to all families and friends of 3rdCB. This includes a set mixed starter\, followed by an unlimited buffet. DESCRIPTION:Our annual chance to celebrate the achievements of our youth members over the past year at the Group’s Presentation Evening. \n\n\n\nThis year’s event will be back at Leigh Road Baptist Church\, the doors are open from 1830 for a 1900 start.  All members of the Group and their parents/family are invited to attend (full uniform for members please). \n\n\n\nDuring the evening awards will be presented to the Beavers\, Cubs\, Scouts and Explorers for their achievements throughout the year. The sections will also be providing displays on their activities throughout the year. \n\n\n\nAfter the presentations there will be a selection of refreshments\, to give you the opportunity to look at the displays & photos and see what we’ve been up to over the past year\, as well as to meet the leader team & other parents.

SUMMARY:Christmas Toy & Carol Service
DESCRIPTION:Each Christmas we host a carol service at The Den with New Road Fishermen’s Chapel\, and collect toys for troubled and needy families in the Southend area. \nWe’re again collecting toys for those less fortunate on behalf of the Marigold Centre. We ask for donations of gifts of toys and children’s books\, these can be new\, as new\, unwanted gifts or something out-grown\, all unwrapped please. \nThe obligatory mince pies and refreshments will be served after the Service. \nWe usually get a full house and have had enormous selections of gifts donated in the past\, please make the same excellent effort this year too and as always\, your contribution is much appreciated. \nAfter the service there is Sunday Duty Patrol for Stormy Petts and Whales.
