Boat Maintenance
Jan 25 @ 09:30 – 16:00

With all the Group’s boats out of the water for the winter, it’s time to give our boats, equipment and facilities a bit of love and care to keep them all working properly.

On Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 January we’d like to get as many Scouts, Explorers, Active Support members and parents down to The Den as possible to carry out winter maintenance so everything is ready for the season ahead.

09:30 start, finished by 16:00 both days. tea and cake will be provided. No experience needed just some cloths you don’t mind getting dirty (for sanding, painting and jet hosing). If anyone has extra sand paper the can bring down it would be of much help.

Please contact Jack Veitch if you can help.

EYC Cadet Week @ Essex Yacht Club

Essex Yacht Club Cadet Week 2020.

3rdCB are invited to enter Scouts/Explorers into their annual Cadet Week – a week of racing, fun & games, and social activities based at EYC’s HQ “Wilton”. Members may borrow dinghies from The Den to enter (single or double handed). It’s a really fun week and the sailing experience of Scouts who’ve entered previously has increased immeasurably.

Official bits – Please note that this is not a Scouting activity, one parent is expected to be present at the Yacht Club during the day to help out with the event and be responsible for their child. Prior sailing experience is required for the use of 3rdCB boats – RYA Stage 3 and experience sailing Topazes is generally the minimum standard, but please talk to the the sailing instructors about it beforehand. We’re not able to provide tuition during the week.

Email Boating@3rdCB.org.uk, or see Chris McHugh or Chris Daly for details.

3rdCB will assist with safety boat cover.
