Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday 7 July at 8.00pm. To comply with social distancing guidelines and Scouting’s current pause on face-to-face meetings this year’s AGM will be online – details have been circulated separately by email to all parents, adult members and other members of the Group Scout Council.
The AGM is a legal requirement of our charitable status, allowing members of the Group Council (that’s all parents, leaders, Active Support members and other supporters of the Group) to receive a formal reports on our activities and accounts for the past year, scrutinise the management team, and to elect or nominate the Group Executive Committee members, who manage the Group and its finances, for the forthcoming year. Youth members are more than welcome (encouraged even) to join as well, but under UK charity legislation aren’t allowed to vote.
The Executive Committee is an important part of the Group and is formed of Section Leaders and elected members including the a Chairman, Treasurer and Parent Reps who don’t hold Scouting roles within the Group, along with specialist advisers. The committee deals with the business side of 3rdCB (accounts, legal, etc). This allows the Leader Team to focus more on Scouting and running activities for our youth members.
The AGM will only last half an hour and so hopefully will not erode into your evening too much. We hope you can attend this event and very much look forward to seeing (virtually) you on the night.
