Royal Yachting Association Training Centre

3rd Chalkwell Bay is recognised by the Royal Yachting Association (the national governing body for sailing and motor boating in the UK) as a training centre. This means that we can teach, assess and award certificates of competence in dinghy sailing and power boating. This allows us to combine the teaching of the  Scout Association’s nautical skills & sailing badges with nationally recognised qualifications.

The RYA Establishment is operated within The Den by a team of professionally trained & qualified sailing and power boating instructors, all of whom are volunteers.

Throughout the year we run a variety of courses, the current training calendar is at the bottom of this page, and you can book a place on a course here.

We can run the following RYA courses for our members:

  • Youth Scheme – Start Sailing Stage 1
