The first week of June is National Volunteers’ Week, and we’re celebrating our volunteers’ valuable contribution to making 3rd Chalkwell Bay Sea Scouts the huge success it is today. This week is a great opportunity to tell everyone about their amazing work.
We enjoy the support of more than 100 volunteers, whether Leaders or Young Leaders, Active Support Members or Trustees, everyone’s contribution makes us as a Scout Group complete.
Throughout the last year, despite the constraints of COVID the team of leaders, instructors and supporters have delivered an extensive programme to our young people, whether virtually or in person where allowed. The team organised online meetings, set up badges to do at home, arranged camps in gardens, and when possible re-worked the programmes to carry our safe, socially distanced meetings, not to mention overseeing significant building work at our HQ.
In 2020 3rd Chalkwell Bay volunteers were acknowledged by HM The Queen with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the MBE for volunteers and a huge honour for a team that gives so much for the young people of our community.
