Welcome to our Spring fundraising update, letting you know what’s going on in 3rdCB and how you can support your Scout Group.
We Need Your Ideas
This year is now well underway and the fundraising team are busy planning events to get everyone involved. To help us do this, we would really appreciate any ideas that you may have for events you would like to see throughout the year. Don’t worry, we’re not asking you to run them, we just need some ideas! Any ideas you have please email Megan and the team at email@example.com or jot it down and drop it into The Den on any section night.
An event not to miss this year is our black tie Easter Ball on Saturday 18th April, held on board HQS Wilton (Essex Yacht Club). The event offers a 3 course meal with a raffle, auction, band and lots of dancing to follow. Tickets are £30 per person. To reserve yours please email Nicky at firstname.lastname@example.org. It’s always been a very popular event and a really fun evening in a unique setting – tickets are selling fast to reserve yours today!
Our first event of 2020 is drinks with other parents from 3rdCB on Friday 28th February from 5:30 in The Smack, Old Leigh. Perfect for those with children at Beavers or Renown Scouts but everyone is welcome! Get to know some different parents and see what events we have planned for the rest of the year!
Co-Op Community Fund
3rdCB have been selected by the Co-Op in Leigh as one of the local causes for their Community Fund. We get 1% of everything that members spend on Co-op branded products and services for this year. In the last round of funding this raised over £3,000 for us, and paid for a new RS Quest sailing dinghy! This year we’re raising funds for a new safety boat, allowing us to expand the opportunities we can offer for activities afloat, getting even more young people out on the water learning new skills, team work and self-reliance. To sign up and nominate us as your preferred local charity, please visit https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/37211
How else can you help?
Did you know you could be able to donate to the Group through your workplace or company? Many companies offer schemes such as payroll giving (tax relief), match fundraising (you raise £50, they contribute £50), charitable trusts (they have a pot of cash, apply for your chosen charity) or other internal/CSR (corporate social responsibility) schemes that may be on offer to you. These schemes should be found on your firm’s intranet/staff policy or via your HR department. We would love you to choose 3rd Chalkwell Bay Sea Scout Group as your chosen charity and can help steer you through the process our end with any requests for information. Please contact Sarah (email@example.com) or Chris (firstname.lastname@example.org) for assistance.
Everyone at 3rdCB is a volunteer. We’re fortunate to have a great team of leaders and supporters who run amazing activities every week for the young people of our community. We do it because it’s fun! Why not get involved in some of our social and fundraising activities and see for yourself!
