And they’re off! Our two teams of runners have completed the HARP 24 hour race on 23-24 June.
HARP 24 is a 24 hour running race held at Westcliff Rugby Club to raise funds to update and expand the facilities at our HQ in Old Leigh, and to support the wonderful work of HARP Southend with our town’s homeless. The idea is to run as many laps as you can within that time with one member of the team constantly on the go. It was great to have so many visitors come over say hello and cheer the team on .
The team of leaders and parents have done really well raising funds – we’ve smashed the original target, let’s see if we can make it to £2,000 – there’s still time to donate at https://mydonate.bt.com/events/3cb-harp24/ so please dig deep and donate to support 3rdCB and the amazing HARP Southend.
UPDATE: We’ve like to thank the team of HARP24 2018: Adele & Sophie Rogers, Freya Dumbell, Kara & Ross Gerrie, David Googe, Louis Phillips, Paul Taylor, Chantal Snary, Damian Smith, Vince Payne, Martin Palmer, Megan Richardson and Tom Ager-Lowden, and of course Will Rogers for his Energy bars sales. Over the 24 hour effort the 2 teams covered over 230 miles in a non-stop relay. They all had a great weekend outdoors, promoting Scouting, eating plenty and raising over £1,800 for the group. We hope they are all keeping up the fitness to join us for 2019 and maybe we can even recruit some new faces for a 2019 event.
If you are looking for a challenge to aim for in 2019 and to motivate you towards some regular exercise please contact the fundraising team at TheDen@3rdCB.org.uk and reserve the 22-23rd June 2019 in your diary.
