Martin Palmer, one of the 3rd CB Assistant Cub Scout Leaders, is organising a team to run in the HARP 24 event to raise funds for the Group. He has already gathered together a group of 3rd CB parents and young leaders of mixed abilities but would love a few more to bolster the numbers.
For those who have never been before, HARP 24 is a 24-hour running race that starts at midday on Saturday 25th June and ends Sunday 26th at midday. The idea is to run as many laps as you can within that time, in a team of any number up to 8. The event is fun and exciting (as well as quite hard work!). You get to see the sunset, run in the dark and see sunrise again the next day. Martin has stressed that the event is for all levels. From keen runners who would welcome the challenge, to those who just fancy doing something very different for a weekend. Those who, whilst starting out jogging, may well grind to a brisk walk at some point.
We are ideally looking at entering two teams that cover both. We have parents from the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts sections involved so far so it’s a good chance to make a few new friends whilst doing something rewarding for both you and the 3rd CB group fundraising cause.
The date is Saturday 25th to Sunday 26th June 2016 at Westcliff Rugby Club. There is plenty of parking and camping on site as well as shower and toilet facilities. Free tea, coffee and water are available throughout the 24 hours and there is hot and cold food available to buy too. If you’re even remotely curious to find out more, please email email@example.com or visit 3rdcb.org.uk/harp24/, or you can sponsor the runners using the form below.
