On Sunday 5th July at The Den is our Open Day and Annual General Meeting, starting at 12.00pm. The AGM is an important meeting where Leaders, members and parents agree on the Group reports, accounts and also where the Group Executive Committee members are elected, and we encourage all parents to come along and help shape our future.
After this we’re going to get the BBQ lit, have a lot of fun stalls, games & activities for all the family, and put the Group’s fleet of boats out onto the water to give you a chance to try your hand at sailing (under supervision from our instructors of course).
So come on down and have some fun, and see what the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers have been up to over the past year.
The Executive Committee is an important part of the Group and is formed of Section Leaders and elected members such as Chairman, Treasurer and Parent Reps who don’t hold scouting roles within the Group and deal with the business side (accounts, legal, etc) of 3rd CB. Thus saving the Leader Team from more work and enables them to focus on your Child’s Scouting and the activities that are run.
This year we have also decided to incorporate the AGM into our Group Open Day and BBQ to hopefully increase the numbers who attend the AGM, as for the past couple of years we have only received a small handful of parents attend this important meeting and we currently have 200+ children within the Group. The AGM will only last half an hour and straight afterwards the Open Day will commence with boating and fun stalls being run by the Sections, this is open to all members of the Group as well as families and friends. At 4pm the BBQ will be underway by our resident chef.
High tide is at 3.45pm and if you want to go afloat, please wear suitable clothing i.e. clothes that you are happy to get wet in and suitable shoes (no heels). You can bring your own buoyancy aid, but if you don’t have one we have plenty to offer at The Den.
This is a great way to see what goes on down the Den as well as a chance to have a go on the boats and chat with the leaders, helpers and other parents. We hope you can attend this event.
