Following the successful trip last year, there will be a return trip to the Rotary Centre in Castleton. We will depart on Monday 1st April (Easter Monday) returning Monday 8th April 2013.
There will be a varied programme including hill walking, wild camping, swimming and we are hoping to introduce low level climbing and other activities. The centre consists of a dining hall, sports hall and a dormitory block, as well as playing fields. The dormitory block is a modern, centrally heated building with showers and bunk bed accommodation in rooms of four.
The centre nestles under the Lose Hill and is a short walk from Edale and the Kinder Scout plateau. There are many challenging walks that can be completed without having to travel out from the centre in minibuses. There will also be the scope, weather permitting, to try out high camping that is an experience that will leave some great memories (Older children only). Level of walks is decided by age.
The cost of the trip this year is dependent on numbers and so we are estimating it to be between £200 and £225. A deposit of £50 is required to secure your child’s place. Once we know the numbers that are going we will send out another letter confirming the full cost. We hope to send this out in February.
The cost includes all transport, activities, accommodation, and food and represents excellent value for money. If you wish to pay by instalments then arrange the amounts you wish to pay, please indicate this on your form. You should note that walking boots (not DM’s) and decent waterproofs are essential for this trip. The Group has a number of good quality waterproofs and rucksacks, which may be borrowed but a £10 deposit will be required. These will be available at the preliminary meeting, which will be held at the Den on Tuesday 5th March at 7.30pm. All persons attending the trip are required to attend.
Numbers are limited to 40 Sea Scouts & Sea Rangers and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
