Each year the Group represents the Scout Association at the Southend Cenotaph for the annual Service of Remembrance. All Leaders, Sea Scouts, Sea Rangers and Explorers are expected to attend this parade, please note that this is one of the three compulsory events that all members must attend. Please find attached the notice for the Regatta AGM being held on the 20th November. As many of you are aware the Chairman Brian Baker and 5 other members of the Regatta Committee are stepping down after almost 20 years. The Regatta is a huge fundraiser for the Group and it will be a shame that due to lack of support it is cancelled, if anyone is able to help with the Regatta or has some new ideas on how is could be run please come along and show your support at the AGM.

A short AGM will be held at about 2100hrs after we have all had the opportunity to have a beer and a bit of a chin wag.

Following discussions whilst sailing we have booked the private room at the Swan in Lavenham (Suffolk) for a Trafalgar dinner on the evening of 19h October. Please go to http://www.theswanatlavenham.co.uk/ for details.
The meal will be black tie and cost approximately £30 per head .The Swan a 15th century hotel is a fabulous location with a good reputation for food. The room will take a maximum of 20 people so booking will be on a first come basis. Lavenham is only a 75 minute drive from Leigh but those who wish to make a weekend of it there is plenty of accommodation in and around Lavenham.

Our next fundraising event is the Soup & Pud Evening on Saturday 12th October , 7 for 7.30, at The Den.
The evening will start with selection of soups being served with a choice of breads on the table. There will be a short interval, while raffle tickets will be sold and to give you a chance to attempt the table quizzes. 3rd CB has received a cheque of the sum of £250 to go towards the fund raising of our new building project. The donation was raised by the Leigh on Sea Masonic Lodge No.4708 and was handed over to our GSL, Carol Tissington last week. A huge 3rd CB thank you goes out to them and their extremely kind donation!
This makes the current total raised so far for our big project £6,250.
3rd CB is now an affiliated training centre with the British Rowing Association, the national governing body for Rowing in the UK and enabling us to offer the Explore Rowing ‘Learn to Row’ scheme. Continue reading British Rowing Affiliated Club
