This year’s RN Inspection was again a huge success in which the Group passed with flying colours on this year’s land based inspection. The Inspecting Officer Lt Cdr Griffiths very impressed with the format of the evening and that the Group was a very, "smart and well disciplined Group whose members had made a significant effort with their appearance".
He was very impressed with the sections bases and the fact that the Patrol Leaders and Bosuns were running their bases confidently and well instructed. The RN Recognition entitles the Group to use Royal Naval Establishments, grants for boats and equipment, to use Naval stores, to fly a defaced Red Ensign and much more. There are only 101 RN Groups in the UK out of over 400, it is seen being RN recognised these groups are generally regarded as the best in the country. Group Scout Leader Carol Tissington, thanked the Group for their hard work they have put in over the last couple of months for the inspection this year. The next inspection will be in 18 months time and it will be a water based inspection.
