Two young leaders from 3rd Chalkwell Bay have been honoured by Southend Council for their work in the community through Scouting. Peter Jacob (18) and David Niall (16) have been selected as two of the top 6 entries in the under 19 category for Southend's coveted Citizen of the Year award for their work as young leaders with 3rd Chalkwell Bay, and have been invited to a reception at the Civic Centre in November in honour of all the award winners.
Group Scout Leader Carol Tissington said "Both these young people have worked extremely hard for 3rd Chalkwell Bay and it is great that the town is recognising the achievements of so many young people in the town. We really do rely on young adults to keep the life blood of Scouting flowing and couldn’t continue without people like Peter and David, for both of them to be commended is wonderful". Peter is currently in the process of applying for an Asst Sea Scout Leader's warrant, whilst David continues his training as a Young Leader.
The awards are designed to celebrate the outstanding contributions to the Community by an individual of the Southend Borough. More information about the Southend Citizen of the year is available at www.citizenofsouthend.co.uk.
