3rd Chalkwell Bay’s Royal Navy Review, where the Group is inspected by a staff officer from the Royal Navy to ensure we maintain the standards necessary to retain Royal Navy Recognition.
The evening will consist of a number of training bases which will allow us to demonstrate the skills and activities which we do on a regular bases. This year there is a change of format, instead of the normal parade inspection the inspecting officer will be chatting to the Scouts of both Solebay and Renown Troop, plus Explorers and inspecting the group while a evening activity will be taking place. Please note that this year the Beaver and Cub Sections will not be inspected like previous years and not required to attend the inspection.
All Scouts and Explorers are are expected to attend in full uniform, which must be clean with scarfs/trousers ironed, caps cleaned and shoes polished.
103 Sea Scout Groups in the country are recognised by the Royal Navy and these groups are generally regarded as the best in the country, overall there are about 450 Sea Scout Groups across the UK. Groups who are recognised have the use of some naval training facilities, access to discounted uniform via the Sea Cadet Stores, and the chance to visit warships such as the Group’s current adopted ship, HMS Atherstone. The Royal Navy also pay into a fun at Scout Association HQ to support training and the purchace of new equipment.
If you cannot attend you must inform your Section Leader directly with a reason please, there are only three events which are compulsory and this is one of those events. Thank you
