 3rd Chalkwell Bay Scout Group was founded in 1931, and has been growing strongly ever since.
The Group has three main sections, the Cub Pack for boys & girls aged 8 - 10, the Scout Troop for boys aged 10 - 15 and the the SRS Solebay Sea Ranger Crew for girls aged 10-21, who also meet at The Den, and even though they are not part of the the Scout Association they have very strong links with the Group. There is also an old boys association called the Guzzlers, which is open to anyone who has ever been associated with the group, and a support group run by parents.
3rd CB is based in the Old Town of Leigh on Sea, and is one of 10 Scout Groups (and 2 admiralty recognized Sea Scout Groups) in Southend West district, Essex.
Being a Sea Scout Group a lot of our activities are based on the water and we have a great number of boats including Wanderers, Topazs, a Laser Stratos and a collection of safety and rowing boats to name a few, and we are an RYA recognised training centre, giving formal sailing & powerboating training to Scouts most weekends.
We undertake a lot of land based training throughout the year including camping, walking weeks and expeditions.
