It’s a really fun week and the sailing experience of Scouts who’ve entered previously has increased immeasurably.

Official bits – Please note that this is not a Scouting activity, one parent is expected to be present at the Yacht Club during the day to help out with the event and be responsible for their child. We’ve run this trip a few times in the past for the Explorers and it has always been a big hit.

On the Monday morning we will meet at The Den to prepare the dinghies and get all the gear together before sailing over to Kent (supported by appropriately qualified leaders in the safety boats). At the entrance to Yantlet Creek is a small secluded beach where we are far enough away from the nearest residence to not be heard! We set up camp, and use driftwood to make a fire and prepare the evening meal, before sleeping in bivvies under the stars on the beach!

We have time in the afternoon to walk to and explore the nearest village, Allhallows, before returning on the Tuesday morning’s tide.

Due to limited capacity in the boats and available leaders this is only open to Patrol Leaders (incl the SPL) in Renown Troop,

How to book

We’re not meeting at The Den before the expedition, so please sign up online using the course booking tool by clicking on the tickets button here or at the top, no later than Saturday 19 Aug.

As with all water activities this trip is very much weather dependant, and may therefore be cancelled at short notice if the forecast is poor.

Full details & Kit List

Yantlet Trip Letter & Kit List

Tickets: https://bookwhen.com/3rdcb/e/ev-sub9-20170821110000.
Europe/London2017-08-21T11:00:00Europe/London2017-08-22T14:00:00en-GBRenown ScoutsChris Daly; 07773 774807; chris@cdd.me.uk; https://bookwhen.com/3rdcb/e/ev-sub9-20170821110000+51.473388+0.676868Yantlet Beach0http://www.3rdcb.org.uk/event/yantlet17/externalthumbnail;http://www.3rdcb.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017-yantlet_banner-200x199.jpg;200;199;1,medium;http://www.3rdcb.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017-yantlet_banner-200x59.jpg;200;59;1,large;http://www.3rdcb.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017-yantlet_banner-612x181.jpg;474;140;1,full;http://www.3rdcb.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017-yantlet_banner.jpg;672;199;en-GBBoating,Camp£10https://bookwhen.com/3rdcb/e/ev-sub9-20170821110000ai1ec-3219@www.3rdcb.org.uk2019-05-21T07:38:20ZCub Sailing
Cub summer sailing days at The Den
Europe/London2017-08-23T12:30:00Europe/London2017-08-23T17:30:00Europe/London2017-08-24T12:30:00en-GBCubsAkelaThe Den0http://www.3rdcb.org.uk/event/cub-sailing-aug17/freeen-GBBoatingbwnp-l47d8tav7ko9-ev-s1ph-201708261130002019-05-21T07:38:20ZRYA Sailing Stage 1
Start sailing
Learn a basic understanding of how a boat sailing, with some experience of steering and handling the boat

Duration: 1 Day

Cost: £10. This is to cover the RYA youth sailing logbook, certificate and safety boat fuel.
