The idea is for members to be at the checkouts offering to pack customers shopping for a small donation to the group.</p> <p>It is anticipated to run the event between 10 and 4 on Saturday and between 11 and 3 on Sunday. This is entirely dependant on how many members attend. The more of you that attend, the shorter the period each of you will have to spend packing and the longer we can be there collecting. With over 170 members; Cubs, Scouts, and Explorers (not including Leaders) it should not be hard for each member to attend for an hour or two so that we can have two members per checkout.</p> <p>Members will be required to attend in uniform (minus caps). As long as we get enough volunteers the time slots will be kept to a minimum and there will be no food/drink supplied by the Group or Morrisons. It will be expected for members to be dropped off and collected from the Venue. The event is fun, gruelling and exciting. Each year, the event raises money for nominated charities as well as for the local Scout Groups around Leigh-on-Sea.</p> <p>The Old Leigh High Street will close for the whole day, allowing the Leigh Regatta to take full advantage of the space for all the entertainment, craft stalls, side shows, competitions and water events, including sailing run by EYC & LSC, the Scout Pentathlon, Cub Welly Hoying, live music, fun stalls and entertainers.</p> <p>All Scouts & Explorers are asked to help on stalls, raise money and set up/pack up on the day. We also need support from parents and families on stalls and in the tea tent, and donations of prizes for our stalls which raise much-needed funds for 3rdCB. Each year, the event raises money for nominated charities as well as for the local Scout Groups around Leigh-on-Sea.</p> <p>The Old Leigh High Street will close for the whole day, allowing the Leigh Regatta to take full advantage of the space for all the entertainment, craft stalls, side shows, competitions and water events, including sailing run by EYC & LSC, the Scout Pentathlon, Cub Welly Hoying, live music, fun stalls and entertainers.</p> <p>All Scouts & Explorers are asked to help on stalls, raise money and set up/pack up on the day. We also need support from parents and families on stalls and in the tea tent, and donations of prizes for our stalls which raise funds for 3rdCB. With around 170 Cubs, Scouts and Explorers (not including the Leaders) we hope that everyone can attend for an hour or two so that we can have two people on each checkout.</p> <p>Please come in uniform. The more people that come to help the more money we can raise for activities and equipment.</p> <p>Please note there will be no food/drink supplied by the Group or Morrisons, and you will need to dropped off and collected from the store. The teams run (as best as possible) a non-stop relay for 24 hours. This can be run or walked, and there is no target on the number or speed of laps. The objective is to have a personal challenge, have fun (maybe dress up?), and raise some funds for Harp and 3rd CB. No-one should feel they can’t contribute.</p> <p>In 2016 our team of 8 comprising leaders, fathers and friends raised over £1,000. Each year, the event raises money for nominated charities as well as for the local Scout Groups around Leigh-on-Sea.</p> <p>The Old Leigh High Street will close for the whole day, allowing the Leigh Regatta to take full advantage of the space for all the entertainment, craft stalls, side shows, competitions and water events, including sailing run by EYC & LSC, the Scout Pentathlon, Cub Welly Hoying, live music, fun stalls and entertainers.</p> <p>All Scouts & Explorers are asked to help on stalls, raise money and set up/pack up on the day. We also need support from parents and families on stalls and in the tea tent, and donations of prizes for our stalls which raise funds for 3rdCB. This is our biggest fund raising event of the year, if you can help out please talk to any of the leaders.</p> <p>We’re after donations of cakes, teddies, jumble and old crockery, so if you like backing or are having a post-summer clear out, please drop them into The Den before the Regatta.</p> <p>We’re also after adult help in the tea tent and on the Scout stalls on the day.
