All afloat for Hen-Leigh Open Day

Saturday 30 June saw our annual Open Day at The Den, this year with a Hen-Leigh Regatta theme.

Great to see so many people come down to see us in the old town. Across the site we had fun and games for all ages, and if you got hungry there was a BBQ, Paella and so many cakes on offer. For the more adventurous we ran sailing and motor boat experiences (even if it was pretty windy on the day). We were also treated to visits from Southend Lifeboat and Essex Police Marine Unit with their RIBs to show us a what they do (the Scouts were very upset they couldn’t have a trip out on them).

At the end of the day we drew the raffle for a selection of Henley-themed prizes, including the top prize of VIP tickets the real Henley Royal Regatta next summer – congratulations to everyone who won prizes, drawn at random by a variety of young people. Overall we raised £601 for 3rdCBs funds to help support our Scouting Adventures in Old Leigh. Thank you to everyone who donated prizes and cakes, and for buying raffle tickets and all the food, it really does make a big difference to the activities we can offer.

Finally, a huge thanks to Sarah, Amy, Sonia, Megan and all of the team for all of their hard work in organising the event, and who made the day so much fun.
