Awards all round at Presentation Evening

Congratulations to all the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, leaders and parents who received awards at our annual Presentation Evening on Saturday 25 February. We hope all the parents enjoyed hearing about what we’ve been up over the past yer year, and our plans for the future.

Each section gave a run down on their activities in 2016, before presenting awards to the young people who had achieved the most, and the lodges, sixes & patrols that had worked the hardest together and won various competitions throughout the year.

We were delighted to give out 6 Thanks Badges to Andy & Sue Middleton, Dave Nash, Mark Toulson, Anne-Marie Bates and John Blackburn, all parents within the Group who do a huge amount of work behind the scenes to support us in running 3rd Chalkwell Bay.

District Commissioner Dan Parsons was also able to present a number of awards to the leader team for their hard work and dedication to Scouting in the local area:

  • Chief Scouts Commendations for good service to Peter Jacob and Time Browne;
  • Awards for Merit for outstanding service to Lyle Wheeler, Chris McHugh, Chris Daly, Val Faulkes, Karen Cruiks and Jon Whiteley;
  • The Silver Acorn for specially distinguished service to Tricia Smith, which will be presented by the Chief Scout at Windsor Castle.

Finally, thank you to Leigh Road Baptist Church for letting us use their lovely church and hall, and for looking after us so well.

All the photos from the evening are available on the members Facebook Group, and the video of what we got up to in 2016 is on the YouTube channel and below.
